Dam Miracles 2024

Posted on September 4, 2024

In May 2016, Color-A-Dam! took place on ArtHop night in Fresno! The community visited the project gallery and colored in with crayons a large printout of my drawing of Fresno County’s Friant Dam.

Last year, in 2023, I decided to hang up the big dam paper on the empty wall above my kitchen table, after the the 10-foot page had been rolled up in it’s tube and in storage for years. There was just enough room for it to fit on the wall! I also had the urge to print out a little copy of the show’s wall statement and tape it up under the big picture, a declaration.

Below are a few documents from Color-A-Dam!, as a commemoration and anticipation of movement.

Happy September 2024.

Come by on Art Hop night and participate in the coloring of a 3 ft. x 10 ½ ft. coloring page of a dam! The dam image is from a drawing I made of Friant Dam just north of Fresno, CA.

Art Workshop at First Pres

Posted on March 2, 2016

I recently had the opportunity to lead an art workshop at First Presbyterian Church in Downtown Fresno, and I am happy to announce that the pieces created by participating artists in the workshop will be on display for ArtHop this month!

The opening for the show is March 3rd from 5 – 8 pm, in “The Commons” building at First Pres in Downtown Fresno.

During the workshop, participating artists created work in response to themes of place, purpose, rest, and resilience, and how these relate to the various contexts which we may currently find ourselves in.

Each artist created their own piece on paper and in their own individual style, while all of the work is connected through various portrayals of local flora or familiar foliage (natural elements) and how these may interact with their current constructed environments (cities and other built settings we may find ourselves in).

Below are a few photos documenting the process of the workshop, and a few images of some of the work created!

This workshop was an encouraging and peaceful time – I am happy I had the opportunity be a part of it and to see the new work created by all of the artists who participated, all while sharing some of the topics and themes I have recently been processing in my own life and work, as well.

I’m looking forward to the ArtHop show!
