About

Jamie Meadows is an artist living and working in Fresno, California. This place of living and working is a longstanding “character/setting” of her Path in art – a location many leave, many return to – a place of longing yet resilience and bounty, no matter the displacement and changes which may also be a part of it’s story. Fresno is a city in the Central Valley of California – a region many drive through in order to reach other destinations in the state.

Through the years, Jamie’s practice has included oil painting, drawing, performance, and video. Recent years have emphasized drawing, which is a still and contemplative medium that is not only an antidote to the digital screen, but indeed is one medium we are left with when other technological means fall away.

Jamie received her B.A. in Studio Art and M.F.A. in Visual Art at Azusa Pacific University in Southern California. The experience of receiving her education near L.A. as well as living in Fresno creates a unique view of place and how it shapes our influences, longings, and self-perception, with physical place being a parallel or metaphor for one’s “place in life.”

In addition to her studio practice, Jamie is an educator who has taught art in various settings including the Fresno Metropolitan Museum of Art and Science, the Fresno Art Museum, and Fresno Pacific University. Jamie has shown her work in Fresno and Southern California.
